My Favorite Software Engineering Podcasts [2025 Edition]
A Curated List of the Best in Modern Software Development
My Favorite Software Engineering Podcasts [2025 Edition]
Is there anything more rewarding than the satisfaction of learning out of genuine intellectual curiosity, without anyone forcing you? I have a problem with Audible, and it’s that I find it difficult to retain what I hear. This doesn’t happen to me with podcasts. I try to jot down everything I find most interesting. I always have a notebook or a notes app nearby, and I can do it while I’m on my way to work or doing my grocery shopping. Distractions will always be there, but I try to use them to be productive.
I’ve always been passionate about audio content creation. I’m a person who consumes a lot of podcasts. It’s one of my favorite hobbies. Putting on my AirPods and just learning is wonderful. This is the list of the best podcasts I’m subscribed to (almost everything I listen to is in English).
Software Engineering Daily
It’s hard to find programmers with balanced communication skills to know how to transmit that science (a gift of tongues) with advanced technical knowledge. I love the passion that Jeff Meyerson puts into all the episodes. He does a lot of content switching talking about categories in tech and has a fixation on technical details. I’ve listened to more than 100 episodes this year and he has a high level of guests. In addition, the network he has created is self-reinforcing and the entry filter grows, so the people he talks to are incredible implementers and the level of conversation is very high in terms of the respect they have for each other.
Data Engineering Podcast
The best podcast about data engineering I know. Some episodes have a strong technical complexity but are still interesting. I really enjoy learning what’s behind data-driven products. Like the first one, it’s very technical and has top-notch guests from product companies who go into great detail.
The Changelog
I’ve been a fan for a long time. They always have interesting episodes. The radical naturalness that their hosts project is much appreciated.
Soft Skills Engineering
You work as a contractor (6/12 months) for an in-house company (not on a project with an external consultant) and they offer you incentives to stay with the company full-time. Do you accept? Think about insurance, PTO, bonus, no-equity, vacations… The two hosts of the show pose these kinds of dilemmas every week. It has a good dynamic.
Web Reactiva
I find it difficult to find more technical content in Spanish, but I’m sure you who are reading this can recommend more on my Twitter account. I love Daniel Primo’s content (Host of Web Reactiva) so much that I’ve subscribed to the Premium plan. He gets straight to the point with his resources on web development and programming and has a particular way of looking at technology.
Software Engineering Radio
An essential podcast for every programmer.
The Stack Overflow Podcast
They bring quality content and have very interesting points of view.
ShopTalk Show
Pleasant conversations about front end and UX.
The Bike Shed
It’s a reference. Every week something new related to software development.
I think this stage of furor and massiveness is spectacular for podcast users.
I await your comments on social media. What others do you recommend?
